Stir Fried Broccoli with Garlic Sauce

When I was in China, I attended some cooking classes at Hutong Cuisine. The classes I attended are of the dishes I like. After the class, I haven’t had the chance to try cooking it again since it’s cheaper and more time efficient to buy the food especially if you’re living alone. During the pandemic, since we’re trying to limit our outside interaction, I decided to cook this dish to my husband.

As broccoli is one of the vegetables both of us like to eat and is quite healthy, I brave the cooking world and tried recreating this dish. I burnt a little the garlic but everything was just as I remembered. I haven’t had the chance to try it with other vegetables but the slurry seems to be quite common on most Chinese stir fry dishes. Try it and enjoy!

Have you heard the news that Krispy Kreme is giving away free Original Glazed doughnut a day until the end of the year? You heard it right! This free doughnut a day promotion is their way of encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine when it’s their turn.

Emergency Alerts Going Wild

Last Thursday, March 18, everyone was on edge as we had a severe weather threat in our area. As I mentioned in my previous post, we weren’t even sure if our vaccine appointment will push through due to the weather. After Waze brought us to an unseen Starbucks location, we decided to order dinner at Bonchon Chicken in downtown Greensboro. As we expected body ache and malaise after the vaccination, we didn’t want to cook dinner.

While my husband picked up the order, the first of the series of Emergency Alerts started on my phone. Since we were still out on the road, we were not sure where the closest substantial shelter is in our area. I was a bit paranoid and have been looking out on the window of our car. When my husband came back to the car with our dinner, he told me to be his eyes and be on the lookout of any flying debris.

Roll Up Your Sleeve for COVID-19 Vaccine

Depending on the state you’re at, you may be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. If it’s your time to get a vaccine, book an appointment and don’t be shy to roll up your sleeve. Here in North Carolina, they started vaccinating people in group 4 (Adults at higher risk for exposure and increased risk of severe illness) last March 17, 2021. Appointments for group 4 opened on March 15.

Since my husband and I are in group 4, he called the county appointment hotline on March 15 at 8am. He was only able to get an appointment for us on March 18 at 4pm at the Mt. Zion Church location in Greensboro. We chose that spot as people at the Nextdoor app were saying that they were using the J&J vaccine. We wanted J&J as it’s a single shot. However, we really cannot choose what shot we can get as the locations themselves wouldn’t know what vaccines are allocated to them.

Quotes About Money and Finance

Here’s my quarterly quotes about money and finance. Initially, I was planning to get quotes related to money, environment and finance in celebration of Earth Day (April 22) or quotes by women about money and finance in celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8). However, I had a list already on hand which I really don’t want to change. I might do some theme quotes in the future but bear with me right now with what I want to share with you.

Henry Ford: “Don’t find fault, find a remedy.”

People always have long memories especially when someone wronged them. However, when someone do good to others, they have selective memory. At work, if you want to shine, better have a solution on hand whenever you bring a problem to your boss. With money, if something doesn’t work, don’t do it again, better find a remedy so that you won’t lose more money.
